April's Featured Patterns: Fun Textured Shawls + Scarf

Happy April!! I'm loving all of the green that is popping up and the flowers that are starting to bud. The weather is still oscillating between chilly and warm, teasing us with both tastes of winter and tastes of summer.

I'm so thankful for the warmer weather and signs of new life - which brings me to the first featured pattern of the month: the Gratitude Shawl, which tells the story of things in our lives that we can feel grateful for.

Gratitude Shawl

by Snickerdoodle Knits

This crescent shape shawl walks you through the wandering paths of life, the simple everyday pleasures, and the beautiful parts, like friendship. Each texture within the pattern represents something that you can think about and feel grateful for as you knit the shawl.

The Gratitude Shawl features simple but engaging lace textures that require some attention and create an engaging knit. The shawl uses two skeins (contrasting colors) of sport weight yarn.

This pattern is available for purchase on the Snickerdoodle Knits web shop, Ravelry, LoveCrafts, and Payhip.

The other two featured patterns of the month are related (they use the same stitch motifs), and they're both inspired by the coming warm seasons!

Remembering Summer Shawl

by Snickerdoodle Knits

A large, cozy triangular shawl, Remembering Summer walks you through the timeline of spring through summer: from piles of seeds, to sprouting rows of crop, and ending with the blossoming flowers. Each stitch motif represents a different stage of the spring/summer seasons.

Although knit using fingering weight yarn, this pattern creates a large, cozy knit shawl perfect for the cooler months when you're missing (or anxiously waiting for) warmer weather. It also provides a lot of opportunity for playing with color, as you'll discover in the yarn recommendation post below: you can knit the shawl with one color, two colors, four colors, or seven colors. (Yarn requirements for each section are provided within the pattern if you choose to use a different number of colors than I used.)

Remembering Summer Scarf

by Snickerdoodle Knits

A quick, fun knit, the Remembering Summer Scarf creates an infinity scarf that is a perfect stitch sampler. The bulky weight scarf features the same textures as the Remembering Summer Shawl, but on a much smaller scale.

The pattern is easy to customize so your scarf is long enough to wrap once or to wrap twice. Each section includes a repeat, and you can adjust the number of repeats you'd like to work. This also makes it easy to use up small scraps of yarn for your knitting project!
