Did you hear that my brand new knitting pattern collection has officially been released?! A project that's been in the making since January 2020, the My Forever Home knitting pattern collection by Snickerdoodle Knits (that's me!) was released on Montana's 131st birthday (November 8th).
THE CONCEPT:
In 2019, my husband and I moved across the country. There have been a lot of things -- especially in climate and scenery -- that have been different. I grew up in Montana, and Montana will forever be "home" to me ~ the mountains, the farms, and, I suppose, even the cold. That doesn't mean I don't also love my new home. But "home" will always have a special place in my heart.
So, I decided to create a collection that told all about my beautiful forever home that isn't where I actually live. I love symbolism in my designs, so I wanted to represent the mountains, the plains, the farms, and the cold, snowy winters in a collection of knitting patterns.
I also wanted to highlight indie yarn dyers of Montana by collaborating with yarn dyers local to Montana (it ended up that this didn't work out 100%, but I did get a couple!) and decided to use DK weight yarn for the collection ~ a fitting weight of yarn for the climate.
The yarn dyers that I collaborated with include Polka Dot Sheep (located in Whitefish, MT), Western Sky Knits (located in MT), Big Sky Yarn Co (originally from MT), and Explorer Knits (located in CO, which has a similar landscape to MT!).
15% of sales November 8 - December 8 will be donated to Montana Rescue Mission to help those who don't have a home and are living in Montana.
THE DESIGNS:
The My Forever Home Collection includes five different designs: a hat, a poncho, a cowl, a shawl, and a pair of fingerless mitts.
