NEW Knitting Community - Fiber, Friendship + More

I'm so excited to finally share the newly revised Snickerdoodle Knits Knitting Community! If you're not familiar with the story…

The Snickerdoodle Knits Community originally started on Patreon in August 2020. Since then, I've been sharing behind-the-scenes content, exclusive discounts, monthly updates, and more (which has been great!), but it wasn't quite what we, as the Snickerdoodle Knits Community wanted… There just wasn't the community feel. Sure, you could comment on posts, but there wasn't a lot of opportunity for connection and communication.

So, in the fall I added a Discord community to host the knitting chats and knit-a-longs. And it's been great, too (the chatting has been amazing!), but there was still a big disconnect.

I realized that what we needed was a place where you could get all of your knitting content (including knitting courses coming verrrry soon) AND hang out with all of the knitting friends.

So after lots of brainstorming, surveys, and polls… I've created a new space for the Snickerdoodle Knits Community! The Community has consolidated from using multiple platforms to just one platform hosted on the Snickerdoodle Knits website. The community offers knitting help, knit-a-longs, knitting mini-courses, connection with fellow knitters, and so much more. Check it out for yourself here.

LET ME INTRODUCE YOU TO...

The community you helped create! All of the benefits included in the community were voted on by those of you that answered the surveys and Instagram polls in late 2020.

Community Tier Levels

Each tier has different benefits and cost associated with it. The general level is free, and Tier One and Tier Two are paid – with monthly or annual payment options.

Tier levels allow you to customize your experience within the community according to your financial situation and the benefits that you are seeking. Knitting support and community are provided at every level, but the higher tiers will have access to a more in-depth experience.

Knit-A-Longs

There were lots of requests in the polls and surveys for more knit-a-longs (KALs)! So there will be multiple kinds of knit-a-longs running in the Snickerdoodle Knits Community.

There will always be a KAL (4 per year) running in the paid tiers, and then my more typical KALs (focusing on my patterns) will be available to everyone through the general level.

Are you inspired to knit something new if you get to knit it with other knitters? Do you need to have an excuse to get out of your knitting comfort zone? Are you motivated to try a new technique when you know you have a community filled with support?

If you answered yes to any of the above, you may have been one of the survey participants begging for a knit-a-long (KAL) in the Community. 😊 And if you weren't, are you familiar with knit-a-longs? Cause I think this is gonna be right up your alley!

A Quick Little Run-down…

A knit-a-long is pretty simple: it's a group of knitters knitting together, with a similar topic, goal, pattern, or yarn.

For example, I just wrapped up the Montana KAL and North Carolina KAL. They were both knit-a-longs that featured two of my collections that I released last fall (the My Forever Home Collection is inspired by Montana, and the A New Home Collection is inspired by North Carolina). So, participants were required to knit one of the patterns from the collection.

Other times you might knit around a topic, like lightweight and summery, or comfort knitting, or you might knit a certain category of item, like sweaters or shawls. These KALs are less restrictive, but it also means you have to find your own pattern, and you aren't knitting the exact same project(s) as everyone else.

I find that all different varieties of KALs are fun, and each serves a different purpose. Which is why, in the Snickerdoodle Knits Community, I'm hosting a variety of KALs.

First of all, there's the KALs that are open to the whole community. Those will specifically feature one of my patterns or collections. The purpose is intended to highlight my design work, and it allows you to knit the same project as your fellow knitters.

But I'm also hosting themed KALs, which are open to all paid members of the community. This year the KALs are themed around a category of item, but every year will be different.

Of course, I'm still a designer, so I'd love it if you knit my patterns for these KALs (and I have a coupon code available for any of my patterns that fit into the theme), but there are so many amazing patterns out there, so you are not limited to Snickerdoodle Knits patterns.

KAL Themes for 2021:

February - April: Hats & Mittens

May - July: Summery Knits

August - September: Shawls

October - December: Sweaters

Yep, that means the Hats & Mittens KAL has already started, so hop into a paid tier of the community to join along, if you haven't already!

Now's your opportunity to:

- Knit your first hat, mitten, or fingerless mitt

- Tackle the hat, mitten, or fingerless mitt pattern you've been feeling intimidated by but you really, really want to knit

- Enjoy a palette cleanser with these quick + simple projects

- Finally knit up the winter accessories you've been needing for the past few months

Whatever your excuse has been for not getting them done, now's the time to tackle those projects – while hanging out with knitting friends doing the same!

Join a paid tier (starting at $5.50/month), and you'll get access to the KAL community, a 50% off coupon (every month) for a Snickerdoodle Knits pattern of your choice, plus 15% off all Snickerdoodle Knits hat and mitten patterns (including the hat pattern coming out next month!).

Knitting Resources and Knitting Support

The Snickerdoodle Knits Knitting Community includes a variety of resources specific to your knitting - from a knitting help chat to pattern discounts, knitting mini-courses to early access to patterns… and more! Ultimately, the Snickerdoodle Knits Community is a resource to make your knitting experience joyful and overwhelm-free.

Knitting Help Chat

Whether you've come across a knitting question you'd like some help with you or you can't wait to get your hands on the next Snickerdoodle Knits pattern, I'm here to help.

Do you ever get stuck with something when you're knitting a project? You get so frustrated that you wad up the project and throw it into the corner to make it suffer in timeout?

Do you wish that you had someone you could just turn to, to ask for help?

You're pretty confident in the basics of knitting, but every now and again you come across something you just can't figure out.

You know you don't need to hire a knitting tutor, teacher, or coach. You just need someone to help with the little things that go wrong.

Your solution is in the Knitting Help chat thread. Any knitting problem you come across, you can ask about in the thread, and I (and anyone else from the community who would like to) will help you out. Not only can you get multiple perspectives on your question, but you can also learn from others' questions – getting answers to the questions you hadn't even come across yet!

No more overwhelm and frustration in your knitting because you know help is on its way.

Knitting Platform Tips & Tutorials

How often do you log into Ravelry, LoveCrafts, or Ribblr and feel frustrated and overwhelmed? You had a simple task you wanted to accomplish, but you can't figure out how to get there. Or, you'd like to learn more about the features of the websites, but it feels like there's just too much to learn.

These platforms have a lot to offer – and they're very useful once you learn how to use them – but there's a steep learning curve when you're trying to learn on your own. That's why I'm recording tips and tutorials videos for you in the Snickerdoodle Knits Community – so you don't have to flounder around the websites confused and frustrated like I did.

More ease + enjoyment in your pattern searches, project pages + more.

Join Tier Two of the Snickerdoodle Knits Community to gain access to the knitting help chat and the platform tips + tutorials videos. It's like always having a knitting mentor with you.
