Are you in love with the brand new On the Road Again knitting pattern collection but not quite sure what yarns to use? Continue reading for color recommendations using Birch Hollow Fibers yarn (that's the yarn that I used -- and the dyer has put together some yarn kits), affordable yarn suggestions, and a list of resources to search for other yarns that will work for the pattern!
Simple, fun, and addicting to knit, the On the Road Again Hat and Cowl knitting patterns will quickly become your new favorite almost-mindless go-to knits for your family, yourself, and gift knits. The On the Road Again Collection motif uses two (contrasting) colors to create what looks like an endless road wrapping around the circumference of your project.
The collection (including a hat knitting pattern and a cowl knitting pattern) was designed to use just two skeins of yarn for both projects (and, depending on the sizes you knit, you may even have enough yarn for a third! Check out the cowl I knit to use up the last of my scraps here on Ravelry).
The yarn that I used is Birch Hollow Fibers Phillis DK in Baby Ann (blue) and Sword Steel (gray). The hat will look great with any two contrasting solid, tonal, or lightly speckled yarns. If you'd like for the motif to be very clear, be sure to use colors that have a high contrast. If you'd like for the motif to be more subtle, you'll want to choose colors that have a lower contrast (this can include yarns with more speckles in them as well).

Birch Hollow Fibers Colors
Birch Hollow Fibers carries a beautiful array of colors, many of which would work together well for the On the Road Again Collection (Hat and Cowl). Here I've put together a few combinations, as well as a few that the dyer, Robin, has put together. If you're reading this at the time of the collection release (March 2021), be sure to check out Robin's shop for some yarn kits (patterns not included) for the patterns! Just click on the photo to view that color in the Birch Hollow Fibers shop!
