The Remembering Summer Infinity Scarf is a perfect mini skein stash-busting project! To learn more about the Remembering Summer Collection designs, be sure to check out the Behind the Designs: Remembering Summer Collection blog post!
For my sample of this design, I used 7 mini skeins of differing colors, but please feel free to adjust the color numbers and combinations as you wish. This pattern is easy to adjust in length -- just knit until you want to end that section! Plus, if there's a section you don't like as well as the others, you can just omit the entire section!. This scarf is easily worn with two loops or three loops (as shown at the bottom of this post).
The yarn that I used for my sample of this scarf is the Caron x Pantone yarn. Unfortunately, this yarn is now only available on clearance at Michael's and can only be purchased in-store from what I have seen. Fortunately, there are lots of other wonderful yarns that you can substitute! I'll share multiple color ideas for each of the yarns that I suggest, and I invite you to also play around with combinations that you love!
Here are a few different color combination recommendations:
Use one color for the entire scarf (140 grams).
Use two colors: one for color 1 (my gray) and one for colors 2-7. This would require 20 grams of color 1 and 120 grams of the second color.
Use three colors: one for color 1 (my gray), one for colors 2-4 (my dark orange, green, and blue), and one for colors 5-7 (my light orange, dark turquoise, and purple). This would require 20 grams for color 1, 60 grams of the second color, and 60 grams of the third color.
Use three colors, but rotate through the colors so they are dispersed through the scarf: one for color 1 (my gray), one for colors 2, 4, & 6 (my dark orange, blue, and dark turquoise), and one for colors 3, 5, & 7 (my green, light orange, and purple). This would require 20 grams for color 1, 60 grams of the second color, and 60 grams of the third color.
Use four colors: one for color 1 (my gray), one for colors 2 & 3 (my dark orange and green), one for colors 4 & 5 (my blue and light orange), and one for colors 6 & 7 (my dark turquoise and purple). This would require 20 grams of color 1, 40 grams of the second color, 40 grams of the third color, and 40 grams of the fourth color.
Use four colors, but rotate through the colors so they are dispersed through the scarf: one for color 1 (my gray), one for colors 2 & 5 (my dark orange and light orange), one for colors 3 & 6 (my green and dark turquoise), and one for colors 4 & 7 (my blue and purple). This would require 20 grams of color 1, 40 grams of the second color, 40 grams of the third color, and 40 grams of the fourth color.
Use seven different colors. This is an especially fun way to work with a fade, gradient, or sequence of colors (such as a rainbow).
Yarn & Color Recommendations
I've organized these yarn recommendations from cheapest to most expensive. Note: This pattern only calls for 200 grams of yarn, which is just two skeins of yarn. This means that, for my multi-color suggestions, you will have quite a bit of extra yarn left over.
Note: I am not affiliated with any of the yarns that I suggest; I am only providing a reference of suggestions for the knitters who wish to knit my pattern. All photos are from the websites I have linked in this post.
