As I am releasing this pattern around the 4th of July (Independence Day within the United States), I think it is important to discuss the minority groups (particularly Native Americans and Blacks) that have suffered, and continue to suffer, from the colonization of our country. Over the past few years, I’ve learned a lot from listening to these communities, and as a result my perspective of Independence Day has changed. My perspectives continue to evolve, but for the present, I use the holiday as an extra opportunity to feel thankful for the freedoms and privileges I have, to consider/learn from those that still don’t have the same opportunities, and to reflect on how we can continue to better our country. What does the 4th of July mean to you?

TECHNIQUES
The techniques included within this pattern include are basic knits, purls, and color blocking using intarsia knitting. There are three construction options for the pattern. The first includes working stockinette and stranded colorwork. The second includes working stockinette and duplicate stitch. The third uses only garter stitch and has no “stars” in the blue section. This is a great pattern for a beginner knitters interested in working with more than one color in a project.
All of my patterns include clear, step-by-step instructions and linked video technique tutorials that walk you through the pattern with confidence. I am also available for pattern support if you have questions.
